On August 11th I visited the Wild Rocket at Misty’s Micro Brewery Montville, Queensland. They are a small establishment that produce a few beers for consumption in the restaurant.
The beers that I sampled were:
1. Pilsner, On the Edge, 4.2% abv, this is a straw coloured Lager with a subtle apple aroma. It has a mild Pilsner malt flavour and a crisp finish but I found it to be a little watery.
2. Alfie’s Pale Ale, 4.2%abv, this is a golden coloured Ale with a subtle citrus aroma. It has a mild sweet malt initial taste and then a fruitiness on a lingering bitter finish.
3. Montville Smooth Ale, 4.2% abv, this amber coloured Ale has a subtle sweet malt aroma. It has a nice malty initial flavour and then a very strong bitterness that spoils the taste. This one was a bit watery too.
4. Black Jack Stout, 4.2% abv, this black coloured Stout has a very subtle coffee malt aroma. It has an initial malt taste that disappears quickly into an over bitter finish.
I truly hope that the Wild Rocket produces great food because their beers are rather disappointing. In a region that has so many excellent craft breweries this one is sadly lacking.
