I managed to get to the Odyssey Tavern and Brewery. They do their brewing in nearby Geelong, as the site they occupy is not big enough to cope with the production required.
The beers I sampled were:
1. Cockies, Blonde, 5% abv, a great easy drinking blonde style beer, good for a summer session.
2. Odyssey, Calypso Pale Ale, 5% abv, this ale has fruity aromas, a nice malty taste with a great citrus, hoppy finish.
3. 4 Pines, Hop Hash XPA, 5% abv, this is a full flavoured XPA, it has a strong, fruity, hoppy taste but a well balanced finish.
4. Odyssey, Apocalypso Double IPA, 8.5% abv, this is an ale with a well balanced malty taste and a strong, lasting, hoppy finish. Very true to the US style of IPA. Most enjoyable.
5. Cockies, Dark Light Ale, 2.5% abv, this is a full bodied, light red ale that tastes malty and gives more taste than I expected from a light alcohol ale. Excellent.
6. Odyssey Tavern, Polyphemus ESR, 5.5 abv, this is a blend of an Extra Special Bitter and a Red Ale, it has a citrus aroma and light, fruity taste and finishes with a strong, well balanced malty, bitter aftertaste. A great beer!!
7. The Ginger Kid Extra Strong, 8% abv, a terrific, clear, crisp ginger beer. It tastes great, but watch out this one packs a punch that could creep up on you!
