On July 30th I visited Kalki Moon Distillery and Brewery in Bundaberg . This is primarily a distillery that also makes small batches of craft beer. They were not able to provide any beer samples as their license does not let them serve beer without food. I could, however, try their spirits, go figure!
They will next have their beers available for the first weekend in September when they will also have food available. The beers that they make are a session IPA, an IPA and a Chocolate Porter. They all sounded great.
I tried a couple of their spirits, since I was there and they were available.
Kalki Moon Classic Liqueur, 20% abv, this is a chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla flavoured liqueur that uses their vodka as a base. It is delicious and very smooth, a really lovely drink! It won a Silver Outstanding Award at a recent show in London and I am not surprised, it is very easy to drink.
Kalki Moon Classic Gin, I had this mixed into a Gin Gin Mule, which contains ginger beer, mint and lime. It was very refreshing and would be great to drink on a hot afternoon. I am not usually a Gin drinker, but I really enjoyed this mix.
They also produce vodka and a premium Gin that I did not sample.
