Copperhead Restaurant Brewery

On August 12th I visited Copperhead Restaurant Brewery in Cooroy, Queensland. This is a new restaurant/ microbrewery that only opened on Tuesday this week. They have been overwhelmed by the wonderful support they have received so far. They have been so busy that last night they had to turn away sixty people. They opened with four of their own beers, two of which have already sold out. They ran out of their Pale Ale and then their Mid- strength Ale. Once they are fully functional they hope to have twelve of their own beers, seven in the core range and five seasonal/ specialty beers. I was able to sample the remaining two of their beers, these were:
1. Pilsner, 5.1% abv, this is a cloudy straw coloured beer with a subtle yeasty aroma. It has a lovely sweet fruity flavour with hints of bananas and then a nice crisp finish.
2. Euro Lager, 4.8% abv, this has a hazy golden straw colour and slight sweet malt aroma. It has a great well balanced flavour of sweet malt and then a gentle fruitiness and a crisp dry finish.
Both beers were very good and quite refreshing. They also have a Coffee Porter and an Irish Red Ale that are close to ready. The remaining taps that they have are at the moment used for other quality craft beers, including several from Brouhaha, so there is no chance of going without a great beer at this wonderful new venue.
In the future they intend to host a craft beer club that will be the first to taste their new beers. Some of the lucky members will even get the opportunity to assist in the production of beers that they have influenced the flavour of. It should be a great experience.
I wish Copperhead all the best for a wonderful future.
