Prickly Moses Brewery

I took the trip out to Prickly Moses Brewery in the Otways. It is a little out of the way so we are lucky that their beers are available in Queenscliff and Apollo Bay at the Brewhouses as well as at quite a few bottle shops. They have been brewing for about ten years and in that time they have developed an extensive core range and also still continue to produce some exciting seasonal beers.
The beers that I sampled at the Brewery were:

1. Summer Ale, 4.5% abv, this is a light, refreshing ale with a slight fruity flavour and a crisp, dry finish. Very easy to drink.
2. Spotted Ale, 4.5% abv, this beer was developed to support the endangered Tiger Quolls in the Otways and all profits from the sale of the beer go toward this. The beer has a nice hoppy aroma and a great fruity taste. Delicious! Helping to save the environment one sip at time.
3. Otway Chainsaw, 4.8% abv, this is an Australian style wheat beer which exhibits a golden, straw colour, a hoppy aroma and a lovely, smooth taste with quite a dry finish.
4. Otway Organic Pilsner, 4.8% abv, this is a German style Pilsner that is pale amber in colour with an easy drinking, light taste and a mild bitter finish.
5. Otway Pale Ale, 4.9% abv, this is a medium bodied ale, with a light amber colour, it has a malty caramel taste and a lovely mild hoppy aftertaste.
6. Blueberry Hefeweizen, 4.5% abv, this beer gives a strong blueberry nose and has a slightly sour, dry taste. Lovely! It would be great on a hot day.
7. Farmhouse Ale, 6.3% abv, this is a golden coloured ale, with a complex, spicy flavour yet it is very easy drinking. Delicious!!
8. The Raconteur IPA, 6.4% abv, an IPA in the American style, it has a fruity, hoppy aroma and a lovely malty taste and finish.
9. Forbidden Fruit Original Cider, 4.6% abv, a light, semi sweet apple cider that is very refreshing.
10. Forbidden Fruit Mango Cider, 4.6% abv, this has a great fruity aroma and a lovely strong mango taste. It is light and very easy drinking.

11. I have had the pleasure of trying the Prickly Moses, Red Ale, 5.0% abv, it is an Ale with a fantastic copper colour and a lovely malt aroma. The taste is also dominated by the malts used, it is smooth and delicious with a lovely lasting full palate finish. Wonderful!!

Overall I really enjoyed the range on offer and would highly recommend this Brewery to all.
