Today I visited the picturesque town of Beechworth to try the beers of Bridge Road Brewery. They have a fantastic venue that was very well patronised while I was there. They do food as well as having an extensive beer list.
The beers that I sampled were:
1. Hefeweizen, 5.0% abv, this beer has a cloudy golden colour and a mild aroma of sweet yeast and bananas. It has a slightly spicy taste of bananas and wheat. Very true to the style.
2. Chestnut Pilsner, 5.0% abv, this pale straw coloured lager style beer is brewed with locally grown chestnuts and Galaxy hops. It has a very subtle flavour and a clean crisp finish.
3. Golden Ale, 4.4% abv, this Australian style Pale Ale has a hazy straw colour and a floral hop aroma. It has a very well balanced taste of malt that is followed by a gentle hop bitterness. Very easy drinking!
4. Beechworth Pale Ale, 4.8% abv, this ale is dry hopped and uses four varieties of hops, it has a golden colour and an aroma of tropical fruit. It has a wonderful full hop flavour with a lingering mild bitterness. Delicious!
5. Little Bling, 3.4% abv, this is a golden coloured, mid strength IPA, with a sweet citrus aroma. It provides a great full palate citrus hop flavour and a bitter finish. Quite sessionable!
6. Bling India Pale Ale, 5.8% abv, this amber coloured ale has an aroma of sweet fruit. It has a wonderful strong hop flavour with a mild malt background and a nice bitter finish.
7. Celtic Red Ale, 5.3% abv, this ale has a dark amber colour and subtle malt aromas. It has a great full bodied malt palate with hints of toffee and caramel and then a gentle bitterness on the finish.
8. Robust Porter, 5.8% abv, this black coloured beer has aromas of dark chocolate and espresso. It has a wonderful taste of roasted malt with hints of chocolate and coffee. It is very smooth and quite enjoyable.
9. Mekelar Dark Harvest, 6.0% abv, this dark brown coloured beer gives off a sweet citrus aroma. It has a very strong well balanced taste of initial maltiness followed by a lovely sweet hop bitter finish.
10. Enigma, 5.0% abv, this is a Pilsner style beer with a light straw colour and a sweet hoppy aroma. It is light bodied but with a strong unusual hop flavour. It is very drinkable.
11. Coffee Pale Ale, 4.8% abv, this is a golden coloured ale with a sweet coffee and hop aroma. It has a lovely gentle coffee malt initial taste followed by a wonderful fruity Pale Ale hop finish.
12. Scrumpy Cider, 7.3% abv, this cloudy straw coloured cider has a strong sour apple aroma. It has tart fruity apple taste and a dry finish. It is not your average cider.
The range of beers on offer at Bridge Road Brewery is quite fantastic. This is another Brewery that has a drink to suit every taste and it does them all quite well.
