This afternoon I visited Bandicoot Brewing in Echuca. This is a great little Brewery that has been operating for two years.
The beers that I sampled were:
1. English Mild Mannered, 3.5% abv, this is a rich brown coloured English style mild ale with a subtle sweet toffee aroma. It has a gentle biscuit malt flavour and is very easy drinking.
2. Aussie Summer, 4.3% abv, this is a light golden coloured ale with a mild fruity aroma. It is made with all Australian ingredients and has an initial malt palate with hints of passionfruit and a subtle bitter finish. A great summer ale that is very sessionable.
3. Stars and Stripes Amber Ale, 4.7% abv, this is an amber coloured ale with a subtle sweet aroma. It has a wonderful toffee malt flavour and is very approachable.
4. Belgian Bombshell, 6.0% abv, this is a dark golden coloured beer with a sweet yeasty aroma with hints of bananas. It has a wonderful flavour of tropical fruit and bananas and a good crisp finish.
5. Rusty Pale Ale, 5.4% abv, this amber/red coloured pale ale has a citrus fruity hop aroma. It is a very well balanced ale with a lovely malt initial palate followed by a strong resinous hop bitterness on the finish.
6. Nightmare Black Rye IPA, 6.66% abv, this black coloured IPA has a gentle sweet hop aroma. It has an initial taste of dark malt and this is followed by a strong hop bitter finish.
7. After Dark Ale, 6.4% abv, this is a black coloured ale that has a malty coffee aroma. It has a wonderful smooth, rich malty flavour with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Delicious!
8. Insomniac Coffee Porter, 6.4% abv, this is a dark brown coloured Porter with wonderful strong aromas of espresso. It has a great, strong coffee malt flavour and a lovely bitter finish.
9. Southern Courage Russian Imperial Stout, 10.0% abv, this beautiful black stout has been aged in ex Port, single malt whisky barrels obtained from the Lark Distillery and has a rich aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. It has a wonderful full palate taste that is smooth and flavoured of rich maltiness with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. This is a truly magnificent stout!!
I enjoyed the beers on offer at Bandicoot Brewing and would like to thank Bruce and Tracey for their hospitality and friendliness. If you are in the area then this brewery is definitely worth a visit.
