Holgate Brewhouse

On March 22nd I checked out Holgate Brewhouse today, a great Craft Brewery in Woodend.
I had the tasting paddle and below are my thoughts on each –
1. Norton Lager – 4.3%ABV – Light, tasty, easy drinking. A great lager
2. MT Macedon Ale – Aus Pale Ale – 4.5% – Excellent, mildly hoppy, smooth, malt after taste
3. Pilsner – You can taste the German influence, it is smooth and what a pilsner should taste like. Very easy to drink
4. Alpha Crucis – Australian IPA – 5.1% ABV – Floral on the nose, very fruity taste, not over-hopped, smooth and crisp
5. Temptress – Chocolate Porter – 6% ABV – Lots of flavours – chocolate, coffee, caramel and vanilla. Really fills the palate. Wonderful, makes you want to drink more.
6. Hop Tart – Semi-Sour Pale Ale – 4.5%ABV – Slightly tarty, not overly sour, a few pints would go down easy on a summer day.
7. Tangelo Gose – Limited release – Fruity, slightly sour, a very unique beer, it is definitely worth trying
8, Road Trip – American IPA – 5.8% – Citrus aromas, interesting hop taste with a slightly bitter finish. Good to the American IPA style
9. Sour Brett Ale – Really nice sour beer ready for release shortly. I was lucky enough to taste direct from the brewing vessel
