Burleigh Brewing Co

On the 23rd August I visited Burleigh Brewing Co. in Burleigh Heads, Queensland. It is a great venue with heaps of space both inside the brewery/ bar area and outside at the front. They often have live music and there is plenty of room for this.
They have an extensive selection of core beers as well as a couple of great seasonal brews. The beers that I sampled were:
1. Daisy Duke, 4.2% abv, this is a black currant infused Lager that is only available at the brewery, it is aimed at the non-beer drinker. It has a rosy golden colour and a subtle berry like aroma. It has a very sweet light black currant flavour on a nice crisp smooth finish.
2. Big Head, 4.2% abv, this a no carb Lager with a golden straw colour and malt aroma. It has a good malt driven taste and a clean, crisp, dry finish. With only 88 calories per bottle it is one for those watching their weight.
3. Duke Helles, 3.5% abv, this is a mid- strength, German style Lager. It has a golden straw colour and a subtle floral and malt aroma. It has a wonderful smooth European Lager malt taste and a good crisp finish. Very sessionable.
4. Duke Premium, 4.8% abv, this is a European style Lager with a golden colour and a yeasty aroma. It has a clean, solid malt flavour with a gentle hop bitterness on a crisp dry finish. Easy drinking.
5. My Wife’s Bitter, 4.8% abv, this is a traditional English style bitter Ale that has an amber colour and a caramel malt aroma. It has a lovely full malt flavour with hints of nuttiness and caramel. Very true to the style. Excellent!
6. Hef, 5.0% abv, this is a German style Hefeweizen or wheat beer. It has a cloudy straw colour and a nice banana aroma. The taste is strong wheat one with a great banana background and a creamy mouth feel. Very refreshing and very good!
7. Twisted Palm, 4.2% abv, this is a tropical Pale Ale with a golden colour and a tropical fruit aroma. It has a full flavour of tropical fruit and oranges and then a mild hop bitter finish. Nice!
8. 28, 4.8% abv, this is a California Pale Ale with a golden colour and a sweet citrus aroma. It has a well balanced flavour, initially of sweet malt and then a fruitiness of passionfruit and citrus before a good hop bitter finish.
9. Hasslehop, 5.5% abv, this is a session IPA with a golden colour and a gentle floral hop aroma. It has a strong fruity hop flavour and then a generous bitterness on the finish.
10. Fig Jam, 7.0% abv, this is an American style IPA with a golden colour and a strong sweet floral and citrus hop aroma. It has a fresh, fruity full flavour and then a great strong, lingering hop bitter finish. Lovely!
11. Macadamia Porter, 6.4% abv, this is a seasonal brew that is dark brown in colour with a malty nut aroma. It has a wonderful full mouth feel and flavour of malt with hints of caramel and toffee and a oily nuttiness. Smooth and delicious!!
12. Nitro Stout, 6.2% abv, this is a black coloured, nitrogen infused Stout with an aroma of roasted coffee malt. It has a smooth, full mouth feel and a wonderful espresso flavour of malt. Very nice!

On 27 August I revisited Burleigh Brewing Co. with the hope of drinking more of their Macadamia Porter, but unfortunately I was too late, they had sold it all. So I tried their latest seasonal beer which is a Toasted Lager, 4.9% abv, this Lager has a golden amber colour and a sweet malty aroma. It has a nice sweet initial taste and then a gentle bitter dry finish. Very good!

I really enjoyed all of the beers that were available at Burleigh Brewing Co. , they have a fantastic selection that are all quite delicious. I would like to thank Scott and John, behind the bar, for their hospitality. They have a great enthusiasm for good craft beer and a wonderful knowledge of the beers they make, they were very helpful. I strongly recommend Burleigh Brewing as a great place to find excellent quality beers.
