Brouhaha Brewery

On 9 August I visited Brouhaha Brewery in Maleny, Queensland. What a great Brewery and restaurant they have. I didn’t try the food, but the menu looked inviting. I did try the beers and they were all wonderful.
The beers that I sampled were :
1. Middle of The Road, 3.5% abv, this mid-strength is made with oats in the mash to give the beer more body, and it certainly does that. It is a straw coloured beer with a sweet citrus hop aroma. It has also been dry hopped, which adds to the lovely fruity flavour and the mild hop bitter finish. An excellent mid-strength beer that really tastes good and is quite sessionable.
2. Blonde, 4.9% abv, this is a straw coloured beer that is made with Pilsner malt. It is very well balanced with a malt initial palate and then a gentle bitterness on a crisp finish.
3. Dry Hopped Saison, 5.7% abv, this farmhouse style Ale is hazy golden in colour and has a fruity apple aroma. It has a beautiful dry Saison flavour that is yeasty and fruity with with hints of citrus and pears. Very, very nice!
4. New Zealand Pale Ale, 4.5% abv, this is a golden coloured Pale Ale with a tropical fruit and citrus aroma that is made with malt and hops from New Zealand. It has an initial palate of sweet malt and then leads smoothly into a fruity and lingering hop bitter finish. Very well balanced.
5. India Pale Ale, 6.7% abv, this is an American style IPA that is amber coloured with a lovely strong aroma of passionfruit. It has a very well balanced taste of malts and then a wonderful fruity flavour and bitterness on the finish. A great IPA!
6. Milk Stout, 4.8% abv, this black coloured Stout has a very strong aroma of espresso. It has a wonderful, sweet, complex malt flavour with strong hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Very enjoyable!
7. Russian Imperial Stout, 8.3% abv, this is a black coloured Stout with a dark head, it has an aroma of malts. The mouth feel is as smooth as silk and the flavour is of rich malt with subtle hints of coffee and dark chocolate. An excellent stout that is very easy to drink.
8. Raisin Hell, 10% abv, this beer was made for GABS in the Belgian Dubbel style. It has an amber colour and a complex aroma of vanilla, fruit and yeast. It is made with Ord River Rum and 25kg of raisins, 10kg of which was added to the secondary fermentation. The taste is buttery smooth of sweet rum and raisins and caramel. Oh what a fantastic beer!!! I really loved this one and would drink it until I feel over if I was allowed to.
9. Lemon Aspen Sour, 4.2% abv, this is a straw coloured beer with aromas of Jalapeño and capsicum. It is made with lemon aspen, an Australian bush fruit that is native to northern Queensland. It has a strong sour taste with citrus notes and is very refreshing and very good. It would be wonderful on a hot day.

I really loved the beers on offer at Brouhaha, they are all very well crafted to produce a product that has flavour and character. I especially enjoyed the Raisin Hell, it has gone into my top five beers of all time list. I would like to thank Toby for his great service and hospitality and would certainly recommend visiting this brewery if you get the chance.
